Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our firm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for meeting directly with clients, preparing and reviewing a variety of tax returns, and providing professional tax planning and advisory services. This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to build and maintain positive client relationships.

The preferred candidate will have experience preparing and reviewing individual, business, estate, trust, and farm tax returns. Experience working with agricultural clients and complex tax situations is highly valued.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with clients in a collaborative office environment while contributing to the continued growth and success of the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and reviewing complex federal and state income tax returns for businesses and individuals
  • Meet with clients to discuss financial records, income, deductions, and tax concerns
  • Explain tax results, liabilities, refunds, and filing requirements to clients
  • Ensure compliance with all tax laws and reporting requirements
  • Maintain timely and accurate communication with team and clients to manage expectations, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Lead tax planning initiatives to minimize risk and optimize tax strategies
  • Review quarterly and annual tax provisions
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess business impact
  • Collaborate with accounting and payroll teams
  • Maintain accurate tax records and documentation
  • Improve tax processes, controls, and efficiencies
  • Generate new business for the firm through existing and new referral relationships obtained

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
  • CPA license preferred
  • 5+ years of corporate or public accounting tax experience
  • Experience with preparation of trusts, estates, and farm taxes preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with ability to multitask

Work Environment

  • Increased workload during tax season (January–April and extension deadlines)
  • Frequent client meetings by phone or in person
  • This role involves regular in-person client meetings and requires an on-site presence
