Culinary Associate – Cook
 
Legacy of the Meadows is an assisted living community seeking a Culinary Associate - Cook to complete our dynamic Culinary team bringing back an old fashion care and delivery of nutritious and tasty food for our residents and visitors in an upscale manner. We are looking for a Cook to prepare delicious meals according to menu and under the direction of our Culinary Director. You will cook dishes that will delight our residents with presentation, taste, and timely serving. The right candidate must be able to follow instructions in cooking and have a willingness to learn. The Cook will be able to move about our well-appointed commercial kitchen and be adept in multi-tasking while adhering to expectations of the role. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important. 
 
 Responsibilities

  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Ensure compliance with Food Code, Company policies and procedures, and evidence-based best practices.
  • Dishwashing, sanitizing and maintaining a clean and safe environment
Ability to learn and adhere to specialty diets for some residents, as applicable.
  • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.)
  • Cook food in various utensils or grillers
  • Check food while cooking to stir or turn
  • Ensure high quality presentation by dressing dishes before serving
  • Keep a clean, sanitized, and orderly environment in the kitchen
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly and safely
  • Check quality of ingredients
  • Monitor stock and notifies Culinary Director when there are shortages
 Skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and friendly demeanor
  • Proven experience as cook or a strong interest in learning
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work in a team yet also function primarily independently
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; diploma or coursework from a culinary school will be an advantage
Job Type: Part-time to Full-time; Potential for Seasonal
