Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to support therapy interventions that help children develop or regain essential motor skills, coordination, and daily living activities. The Pediatric COTA will collaborate with children, families, and other healthcare professionals to assist in implementing individualized treatment plans that promote functional independence and overall well-being.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Occupational Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans for pediatric patients.
Provide direct therapy services to improve fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living activities.
Document patient progress and maintain accurate records.
Prepare therapy materials and activities based on OT-directed treatment plans.
Educate families and caregivers on strategies to support the child’s development at home and in school settings.
Collaborate with speech therapists, physical therapists, educators, and healthcare professionals to enhance patient outcomes.
Follow ethical and professional guidelines as set by state and national licensing boards.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
Valid Iowa COTA license or eligibility for licensure.
Experience working with children in a clinical, school, or healthcare setting preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work under the supervision of a licensed OT.
