A Century of Serving Our Community

This year marks an incredible milestone—100 years of chiropractic care at this office in DeWitt.

For a full century, families in our community have trusted chiropractic to help them live healthier, more active lives. Through changing times, advancing technology, and generations of patients, one thing has remained constant: the body's incredible ability to heal when the nervous system is allowed to function at its best.

We are proud to celebrate the doctors who have carried that mission forward.

Dr. C.J. Christensen

For decades, Dr. Christensen faithfully served the DeWitt community with compassion, dedication, and exceptional chiropractic care. Thousands of patients experienced firsthand the difference that specific chiropractic adjustments can make. His commitment to improving the health of local families created a lasting impact that continues today.

Dr. Ron Hill

Dr. Hill continued that tradition, caring for countless individuals while building strong relationships throughout the community. His passion for chiropractic and commitment to patient-centered care helped ensure that generations of DeWitt families continued to experience the benefits of a healthy, properly functioning nervous system.

Dr. Jacob Cram

In 2014, Dr. Cram started with Dr. Hill and in 2018 bought the practice and established Cram Chiropractic to carry chiropractic care into its next generation.

While technology and equipment have changed over the years—including digital X-rays and modern examination techniques—the fundamental principles of chiropractic remain the same.

So, What Is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is the practical use of the hands to correct subluxations of the spine that interfere with normal function or the body.

To better understand chiropractic, it helps to first understand the nervous system.

The brain controls and coordinates everything in the body. It does this by sending messages down the spinal cord and out through the nerves to every part of the body. Those nerves also carry information back to the brain, allowing the brain and body to constantly communicate with one another.

These structures are so delicate and important that they are surrounded by bone for protection. The skull protects the brain, while the spine protects the spinal cord.

The spine itself is made up of 24 mobile vertebrae that allow us to bend, twist, turn, and move.

Just as your teeth are meant to be in a certain alignment, the spinal bones are meant to be in a certain alignment for the body to function correctly.

When the vertebrae of the spine are properly aligned and moving correctly, the nervous system has the opportunity to communicate without interference.

What Is a Subluxation?

A subluxation is a small misalignment of the spinal bones that puts pressure on the nerves leading to dysfunction.

Chiropractic care is centered around detecting and correcting these subluxations.

Through a specific examination—including posture, motion, palpation, and, when appropriate, X-rays—a chiropractor looks for areas of the spine that are not functioning as they should. A specific chiropractic adjustment is then used to correct the problem and restore more normal motion and alignment.

Chiropractic Is About More Than Pain

One of the most important things to understand about chiropractic is that pain is not the only indicator of a problem.

The nervous system is involved in every function of the body, and subluxations can occur before pain ever appears. Likewise, the absence of pain does not necessarily mean that the spine is functioning perfectly.

That's why chiropractic care isn't simply about chasing symptoms.

The goal is to find and correct the underlying spinal problems so the nervous system and the entire body can function optimally.

At Cram Chiropractic, we believe relief is only the beginning. Our focus is on finding and correcting subluxations and helping patients maintain proper spinal and nervous system function so they can live their lives to the fullest.
