Job Description |
Provides information about college programs, admissions policies and procedures. Ensures accurate information sharing and college enrollment. Duties will include thorough academic planning, career exploration, scheduling of courses and college tuition payment options. Assists in coordinating workshops, orientation, and special advising events.
Work location: Scott Community College, Bettendorf, IA Benefits: This salaried position offers: Annual paid time off starting at 160 hours (4 weeks) vacation, 112 hours sick, 16 hours of personal time. In addition to 11 paid holidays off and a week off in December. Summer Fridays off (working 9 hour days Mon- Thurs)

Physical Demands | • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. |

Typical Duties and Responsibilities |
1. Understand and be able to explain all programs and majors offered by EICC.
2. Provide students with information regarding application, educational offerings, financial aid, assessment testing and course placement, selection of college courses, and related District policies and processes.
3. Assist students in the development of an educational plan.
4. Consult informational documents, web sites and institutional contacts to advise students on course transferability and support students’ transfer goals.
5. Identify and utilize a variety of resources to assist students with career decision-making and selection of a major.
6. Supports student retention efforts by pro-actively engaging with students to ensure their academic advancement.
7. Assist with events organized to provide enrollment and advising services.
8. Inform students about alternatives, limitations, and possible consequences of academic decisions. Authorize course withdrawals.
9. Remain current with technology used to provide advising services and information.
10. Is committed to providing quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of internal and external customers.
11. Responsible for managing retention cases referred by the faculty.
12. Provide proactive referrals of students to college, district, and community service agencies as appropriate.
13. Work closely with various departments within the college to determine enrollment objectives and develop appropriate strategies for achieving those objectives.
14. Assist with the coordination, planning and delivery of college orientation sessions both campus and online.
15. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
